Virgie S. Latiolais

Henderson A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Virgie Serrette Latiolais, 91, who passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at St. Martin Hospital.

Vvisiting hours were observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and continued on Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. 

A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Rev. Lloyd F. Benoit officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Jayden Breaux and Sabrina Scriber.

Interment followed at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.

Virgie enjoyed cooking, eating good food, doing word search puzzles, shopping, watching TV, and spending time with family and friends. She adored her great-grandchildren, grandchildren, and her daughters and lived her life for all of them.  

She will be remembered for her kindness and gifts that she gave to everyone she loved. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her three daughters, Nita Berard (Ned), Kaye Landry (Kenray) and Brenda Pontiff (Dennis); grandchildren, Bobby Abbadie, Nichole Breaux (Jerry), Ben Robin, Brody Robin, and Lindsey L. Romero (Dub); great-grandchildren, Brannon Latiolais, Kaylee Breaux, Jayden Breaux, Kohlie Robin and Norah Robin; and step-grandchildren, Dusty Bourque (Nick), Timmy Berard, Paul Berard (Rene), Ryan Landry and Brett Landry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Simeon and  Amanda Zeringue Serrette; husband, Aurelien Latiolais; son, Ramsey Latiolais; sisters, Ollie Doucet, Minerva White and Bercy Latiolais; brothers, Sterling Serrette, Anthon Serrette and Connie Serrette; and her son-in-law, Randy Robin. 

Pallbearers were Bobby Abbadie, Brody Robin, Brannon Latiolais, Jerry Breaux, Marvin Serrette and  Timmy Berard.

Honorary pallbearers were  Ben Robin, Jackie Serrette, Dub Romero and Dr. Warren Degatur.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of St. Martin Hospital and to Dr. Warren Degatur and his staff, for the wonderful care provided to Virgie during her time of need.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
