Susan Caroline Taylor Pellerin

Breaux Bridge - Susan Caroline Taylor Pellerin graced this world with her love and strength for 81 remarkable years. On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, after a valiant effort against Parkinson’s disease and dementia, Susan died peacefully, surrounded and loved by her family, friends, and Midge.

Born on January 13, 1942, in New Iberia to Paul Elliot Taylor and Gertrude Conrad Taylor, Susan is preceded in death her parents and her brother, Elliot Dwight Taylor. 

Susan enjoyed her life to the fullest and her spirit will be carried on by her husband, Raymond Pellerin; children, Gene Pellerin (Susana), Frank Pellerin, Paula Pellerin Davis (John), and Andre Pellerin; her eight grandchildren: Ainsley Terrebonne (Jakob), Taylor Pellerin (Samantha), Alexandra Pellerin, Paul “Pablo” Pellerin, Hayden Davis, Carson Pellerin, Peyton Pellerin, and Conrad Pellerin; six great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Jeanette Pellerin Hipple and Helen Gray Taylor; and her blessed friend, Melanie Yarbrough.

A delight of Susan’s later years was the inclusion of a loving Labradoodle “Midge” into her family.

A native of New Iberia, Louisiana, Susan attended New Iberia High School and later pursued her passion for education at Louisiana State University, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education (Mathematics). A committed student, Susan was a member of several honor societies, including Alpha Lambda Delta, Mu Sigma Rho, and the Louisiana Beta chapter of Pi Beta Pi.

On June 29, 1963, Susan was united in marriage with her loving husband, Raymond “Ray” Pellerin. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Susan dedicated ten years of her professional career teaching mathematics and physics at Breaux Bridge High School.

Beyond her academic pursuits and dedication to teaching, Susan possessed a vibrant zest for life. She excelled as a golfer and skier, displaying remarkable skill on the slopes and the fairways. Susan’s adventurous spirit extended to her love for travel, with family vacations to Vail, Colorado and Tan-Tar-A, Missouri, with her extended New Orleans family including Sue and Norvin Pellerin. Susan obtained a pilot’s license, fulfilling her desire to soar through the skies. She also adored fast, convertible sports cars.

Creative and talented, Susan had an eye for interior decorating and artwork, particularly pottery. Her home reflected her impeccable taste and brought warmth to all who entered. Additionally, she delighted in showcasing her culinary skills, with her holiday gumbo being the highlight of every gathering.

Susan Caroline Pellerin will forever remain in our hearts, as her love and spirit continue to inspire us. Her memory will be cherished and her legacy carried forward by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

The family will received friends and loved ones for visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, December 17th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Visitation resumed on Monday, December 18, from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
