Steve was born on October 22, 1969, in Loreauville, Louisiana to Anna and Joseph “Arthur” Richard. He married his high school sweetheart, Carmen Taylor, in September 1988. Together, they raised three children, Steve Jr., Alton and Rebecca.

Steve loved spending time with friends and family. He would often refer to his grandson, Oliver, as “The Boss” because when he was in Steve’s care, Oliver got what Oliver wanted. His daughter and grandson affectionately called the seat next to Steve “The best spot in the world.”

In addition to being a beloved husband, father and grandfather, Steve was an active and caring member of the Youngsville community and the Knights of Columbus. He was always one call away for a chat or a pot of award-winning jambalaya. Those who knew him will remember him for his Cajun cooking and ability to make everyone feel included.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Richard; in-laws, Maudry Saucier and Alton Taylor Sr.; brothers-in-law, Alton and Kyle Taylor; and nephews Keiland Rebert and Jacques Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen Taylor Richard; mother, Anna Richard; children, Steve Richard Jr and wife Reagan, Alton Richard and girlfriend Kara Hebert, and Rebecca Richard; grandsons, Oliver and Hudson Richard; brother, Shane Richard, his wife Brandi, their son Deven; sister-in-law, Jacquelyn Smith, her children Roxy Finney, and husband Bill, Ricky Smith Jr. and Minnie Landry and numerous other nieces, nephews and godchildren.
