Shirley Dugas Louviere

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Shirley Dugas Louviere, 85, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Fr. Bill Melancon officiated.
Interment followed at St. Michael’s Mausoleum.
Visitation took place on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service time. A rosary was prayed at 12 p.m.
A native and resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Louviere passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Camelot Nursing Home in Broussard.
Born on December 16, 1034, to the late Sidney and Clementine Barras Dugas, Shirley was one of three daughters. Shirley was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed the simple life of country living. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be truly and deeply missed by all whose who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Nanette L. Poirier (Steve) of St. Martinville, and Tony Louviere (Tommy Bourque) of New Iberia; sisters, Sidney Mae D. Richard (Billy) of New Iberia and Gail D. Harrington (Mike) of St. Martinville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Merlin John Louviere; son, Sidney Louviere; and parents,Sidney Dugas and Clementine Barras Dugas.
Pallbearers were members and friends of the family.
The family would like to extend special tanks to the staff and personnel of Camelot Nursing Homes for their kindness, care and support.
