Shane was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a devout Catholic who loved praying the rosary daily and spending an hour of prayer and devotion in St. Bernard’s Chapel of Perpetual Adoration. He was also an extraordinary Minister and Sacristan.
Although Shane was a licensed farrier or horseshoer, a trade which he learned from his father, “Mr. Kit,” he had experience in every nook and cranny of the racetrack. Shane knew every aspect of the horse business; he trained horses for himself and others and galloped and broke hundreds of them as well. Shane worked countless yearling sales as an identifier and ring man and was the State of Louisiana’s official Tatooer.
Shane loved his family and would not think twice about doing anything for them. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tonie Hollier Castille; mother, Dorothy “Jean” Castille of Breaux Bridge; brother, Lee Castille and wife Tee of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Bonnie Landry of Breaux Bridge, Teddy Frederick and husband Gill of Breaux Bridge, Mina Dekle and husband Steve of Breaux Bridge, Christine Angelle and husband Todd of Breaux Bridge, and Jeannie Begnaud and husband Chester of Breaux Bridge; his in-laws, Elwood and Nell Hollier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton Moise “Kit” Castille; and his brother, Rocky Castille.
Pallbearers were Lee Castille, Allen Chiasson, Wayne Champagne, Steve Dekle, Jeff Delhomme and Cole Blanchard.
