Cecilia – Graveside Services were held on March 28, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Cemetery for Roland Wilson Joe, 59, who died on March 17, 2020, at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge, La.
Services were conducted by Father Gregory Cormier.
Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Cemetery.
Roland was a devoted husband, father, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Roland worked in the Oilfield Industry. After retiring from the Oilfield Industry Roland drove transportation for the elderly at Maison De Williams in Breaux Bridge, La. part-time.
Roland enjoyed spending time with his family and attending family events. Roland also enjoyed taking pictures and videoing for family events, capturing priceless moments spent with his family.
Roland was born to the late Morellea Joe. Roland’s maternal grandparents, the late Ethel Frederick Joe and Joseph Joe, helped raise Roland.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lena Pete Joe; his only child, his daughter, Samantha Joe (Rene Ortiz) of Breaux Bridge, La.; one sister, Lee Anna Joe Bruno Calais (Christopher Calais) of Cecilia, La.; one aunt, Tilly Roberts (Bob Broussard) of Breaux Bridge, La., who was raised as sibling; two uncles, Wilbert Joe of Beaumont, Texas and Ronald Joe of Cecilia, La., who were also raised as siblings; five brothers-in-law, Joseph Pearly Noel (the late Ethel Joe Noel) of Cecilia, La., Clarence Pete of Breaux Bridge, La., Lawrence Pete (Carolyn), Cleo Pete (Shirley) of Lafayette, La., and Melvin Pete (Erica) of Baton Rouge, La.; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Marie Pete of Carencro, La. and Joyce Babineaux (Wallace) of Lafayette, La.; three Godchildren, Jason Noel Sr., Jason Noel J. and Selita Joe; six nieces, Jessica Noel Parker (Johnathan), Christiana Noel Calais (Raymond), Ashley Noel, Brittany Noel Pratt (Gregory), Heather Calais and LaToria Calais; and one nephew, Jason Noel Sr. (Valencia Perry).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Morellea Joe; maternal grandparents, Ethel Frederick Joe and Joseph Joe; sister, Ethel Joe Noel; aunts, who were raised as siblings, Verley Joe Singleton, Earline Joe Bruno, Marjorie Joe, Vesta Joe, Willie Mae Joe Monette and Mary Odelia Joe; his uncles, George Linton Joe, Patrick Joe, Willie Ray Joe and Gary Joe, who were also raised as siblings; and one great-nephew, Da’Quwan Perrodin.
Pallbearers were Johnny Roberts Jr., Jason Noel Sr., Jason Noel Jr., Clarence Pete, Melvin Pete and Cleo Pete.
The family would like to send a special acknowledgment to the following who assisted the family during Roland’s illness: his nieces, Brittany Noel Pratt and Bertrina Joe Eaglin; his sister, Lee Anna Calais; his son-in-law, Rene Ortiz; his brother-in-law, Clarence Pete; and sister-in-law, Mary Marie Pete. The family would also like to thank Hearts of Hospice.
