Pierre ‘Pete’ Kidder

Coteau Holmes – A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Pierre “Pete” Kidder will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at St. Elizabeths Catholic Church. Fr. Bill John Melancon, pastor of St. Rita’s Church, and Fr. Joe, pastor of St. Elizabeth’s Church, will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Kidder will be laid to rest with his wife Patsy in the church cemetery with full Military Honors by the Acadiana Honor Guard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Pierre, known by family and friends as Pete, was born February 17, 1936, in Arnaudville to the late Jean Kidder and Bernadette Kidder and passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Landmark of Acadiana. He was 83.
Pete was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War, and was a past volunteer of the Coteau Holmes Volunteer Fire Department. He worked as a self-employed welder many years for various oilfield related companies in the Acadiana area and retired to enjoy life. He enjoyed working with his hands and in recent years he built model airplanes, boats and windmills as a hobbie.
His greatest joy was being outdoors hunting and fishing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest well Pete.
Pete is survived by his brother, Joseph Kidder; two God Daughters, Darlene Arnaud and Brenda “SueSue” Bergeron; a God Son, Harold Boudreaux Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Boudreaux Kidder; a God Daughter, Elizabeth Darbonne; and his sisters and brother, Elodie Kidder, Ernestine Darbonne, Marie Darbonne, Aline Brasseaux and David Kidder.
Serving as pallbearers are Jude Kidder, Art Zoerner, Donald “T-Joe” Guillory, Sy Savoy, Cameron Melancon and Roy Savoy Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Boudreaux Jr. and Ry Savoy.
