Nathan Thomas Dupuis

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Nathan Thomas Dupuis, 90, who passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at his residence. 

A public visitation took  place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

A rosary was prayed by Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.  

Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Nichole Grivat, Brittany Labbie and Stevierae Gassiot. Gift Bearers were Ty Landry, Mamie Tilbury, Ava Varisco and Bailey Varisco.   

Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 Catacomb.

Nathan Thomas Dupuis was born on September 3, 1932, on Ruth Plantation located between Breaux Bridge and Parks. He was the 6th child of Paul Patrick and Heloise C. Dupuis. Nathan’s playground was Lake Martin and the Bayou Teche. He grew up during the Depression and was familiar with hard times. Nathan started a victory garden to help feed his family and friends.    

Nathan joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and worked as a mechanic in the Korean War. After his time in the military, he came back to marry the love of his life of 66 years, Louella, and together they had eight beautiful daughters.  

Nathan was a TV Technician for Molbert’s Furniture and Appliance store for 35 years. After his retirement from Molbert’s, he then joined his brother, Jason, and helped with the growing and selling of satsumas. He was a devoted family man that provided a good life for his wife and girls.  

In his spare time, he would spend with family and whoever came to visit. Nathan enjoyed Wednesdays and Sundays because that was coffee with his girls and time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nathan made sure that eating vegetables was fun which included cucumber popsicles, carrots with the tops on, and cracking pecans with his grandchildren while sitting on the front porch and feeding them ice cream and watermelon.  

He is survived by his wife, Louella Trosclair Dupuis; daughters, Julie (Kirk) Grivat, Louise (Carlin) LeBlanc, Debora (Leah) Dupuis, Celena Dupuis Tilbury, Wanda “Ash” (Gary) Gassiott, Jane (Mitchell) Labbie, Laura (Todd) Landry, and his buddy to end, Lisa (Brandon) Varisco; 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Russell Dupuis and Jason Dupuis; and his sister, Eliza “Toot” Dupuis.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Patrick and Heloise Chauffe Dupuis; sister, Joan Molbert; and his brothers, Paul Dupuis, Harvey Dupuis, Alvin Dupuis and Richard Dupuis.  

Pallbearers were Casey Grivat, Albert McBride, Leah Ryder, Cody Landry, Thomas Gassiott, Bryant Labbie, Bo Landry and Brandon Varisco.  

Honorary pallbearers were John McBride, Sam McBride and Abbie Grivat.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana and Palliative Care.  

Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
