Mary Guilbeau Berard

Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Our Savior’s Church - Opelousas Campus for Mary Guilbeau Berard, 62, who passed away on February 28, 2023.

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will continue on Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A service of worship will be held at the funeral home on Thursday night from 6 to 7 p.m.

Pastor Christian Aranza will officiate at the funeral service.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.

Mary Guilbeau Berard was born on March 27, 1960, in Marksville. She enjoyed crawfishing, painting and crafting, collecting antiques, cooking and riding horses. Mary spent time in the past working with the deaf and blind and was employed at Affiliated Blind of Louisiana, which was one of her most rewarding jobs. 

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she cherished her time spent with her family and friends, especially spoiling her grandchildren. Her memory will be treasured by all her who knew and loved Mary.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Dane Berard; daughters, Alexis Thibodeaux Montgomery (Thad) and Amber Thibodeaux Poche (Jonathan); step children, Kale “Blue” Berard (Chasity) and Kassi Berard Leger (Ben); mother, Iris Soileau Guilbeau; siblings, Danny Guilbeau (Kim), Wayne Guilbeau (Angeli), Kent Guilbeau (Christine), Matt Guilbeau (Monica) and Wanda Guilbeau; grandchildren, Brooklyn Poche, Maverick Poche, Vaida Poche, Elliana Montgomery, Mia Montgomery, and Charlie “CiCi” Montgomery; step-grandchildren, Brittany Berard Gaudin and Bryken Berard; and one step-great-grandchild, Walker Gaudin.

She is preceded in death by her father, Stephen Guilbeau.

Pallbearers will be Matt Guilbeau, Thad Montgomery, Jonathan Poche, Chris Poche, Kale “Blue” Berard and Daniel Guilbeau.

Honorary pallbearers will be Maverick Poche, Wayne Guilbeau, Danny Guilbeau, Kent Guilbeau, Hunter Guilbeau and Lee Castille.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Devotion Hospice, Home Care Angels LLC and all of those who have supported Mary and her family during this season and also this time of loss. Also, a special thanks to Mary’s church family, at Valley Rise Church in Texas, for the physical, emotional, and spiritual support during this difficult time.
