Lennis ‘Chute’ Huval

Breaux Bridge – A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Lennis “Chute” Huval, 82, who passed away at his home.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert will officiate at the funeral service. Reader will be Bess Robicheaux.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1.

Lennis, known to his family and friends as “Chute,” was born October 18, 1939, in Breaux Bridge. He worked as a mechanic for 52 years. He owned Huval’s Auto Repair for 40 years. Prior to opening his business, he worked at Johnson’s Auto Repair for 12 years. 

Chute came from a farming family, but his passion was cars. He loved camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of Section 20 Hunting Club. Everyone who knew him, knew that he had a huge sense of humor and loved to joke around.

Above all, he cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Johnson Huval; daughters, Earline Huval Lasseigne, Linda Huval, Patricia Pitt (Blaine) and Cynthia Hayes (Jeremy); grandchildren, Carey Lasseigne Jr., Chaz Robicheaux (Bess), Dustin Hayes and Hailey Hayes; great-grandchildren, Logan Lasseigne and Victor Rogers; step grandchildren, Matthew Pitt and Connor Pitt; brother, Louis Huval; and his godchildren, Jan Hayes, L.J. Huval, Courtney Johnson and Ramona Clark.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clebert and Lucille Hebert Huval; daughter, Barbara Ann Huval; sister, Aline Mason; brothers, Dalton “Black” Huval, Lawrence “White” Huval and Percy Huval; and his godchild, Brenda Albarado.

Pallbearers will be Louis Huval, Chaz Robicheaux, Dustin Hayes, L.J. Huval, Jeremy Hayes and Carey Lasseigne Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Blaine Pitt, Wilson Guidry, Addie Boyer, Ray Dupuis, Logan Lasseigne, Victor Rodgers and Courtney Johnson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and their staff, especially his nurses, Alison, Renee, Christine, and Amy for the excellent care given to Chute.
