Johnny ‘Grumpy’ Guidry

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge for Johnny “Grumpy” Guidry, 80, who passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at his residence.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. 

A rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m. on Thursday. 

Deacon Dennis Landry will officiate at the Funeral Service. Reader will be Paget Guidry. 

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2. 

Blessed with a strong work ethic, Johnny pursued various occupations throughout his life, leaving a lasting impact in each industry he ventured into. He worked in the oilfield industry with Mallard and Franks Casing Crew, where he made many long-time friends. Later, he made his mark as the proud owner and operator of the Ulikalite Arena and Track Lounge. 

Additionally, Johnny built a business as the owner and operator of Congress Shell Serving Station, where he served his community diligently.

While he found great joy in his work, Johnny’s true passion was the time he spent trail riding, horse racing, and even going to the casino. 

Throughout his life, Johnny epitomized the values of hard work and dedication. He had unwavering love for his family and always supported his children in whatever they pursued. Known affectionately as “Grumpy”, he left a lasting impression on all who had the fortune of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Macklyn “Mack” Breaux Guidry; sons, Ken Guidry (Paget) and Brandon “BJ” Guidry (Andrea); daughter, Kelly Guidry; brother, Eddie Guidry (Mary); grandchildren, Jenna T. Benoit (Brandon), Jade B. Guidry, Marae E. Guidry, Kalen J. Guidry and Jayce Guidry; and his great-grandchildren, Carter Tumminello, Kullen Guidry, Brooklyn Benoit, Bryken Benoit, Natalie Liotto and Nevaeh Southern. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Guidry and Odette Cormier Guidry; and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Guidry Romero and Wayne Romero. 

Pallbearers will be Ken Guidry, BJ Guidry, Kalen Guidry, Jayce Guidry, Jason Guidry and Brandon Benoit. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas “Gobbie” Landry, Marae Guidry, Carter Tumminello, Kullen Guidry, Bryken Benoit, Brooklyn Benoit, Natalie Liotto and Nevaeh Southern.
