John Lee Curet

Wasilla, Alaska – John Lee Curet, 84, passed to his eternal home June 25, 2020, at his residence in Wasilla, Alaska, surrounded by family.
John served as a Deputy Sheriff from February 1981 to August 1998 and as a Bailiff from August 1999 to February 2011 in Louisiana’s St. Martin Parish. He served in the Louisiana National Guard in the 1950s and 1960s.
John lived a life filled with the love of his family, the joy of his grandchildren, and the admiration of his community. He was a Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster with Troop 11 in St. Martinville and the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow for many years and loved hunting, camping, fishing, nature, history, football, photography, Native American Powwows, model making, leatherworking, trains, and eagles, among other interests.
He enjoyed sharing his life’s adventures and stories, and his eyes would twinkle when he spoke of his Quarter Horse JoJo and his memories working on the police force. In his twilight years, John most enjoyed cracking jokes with his grandchildren, exploring Alaska, and snuggling with his best buddy, a toy poodle named Zoey.
John is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. He is survived by his spouse of 45 years, Carrie Fournet Curet; two sons, Sean and wife Anita, and Lee and wife Ginger; two grandchildren, and three siblings.
Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church of Broussard, located at 210 S. Morgan Avenue in Broussard, at 3 p.m. on July 10, 2020.
Internment will be in the Fournet Family Cemetery in St. Martinville.
