John Allen worked at Cargill Salt Mine for 25 years until his retirement. He also worked part-time at Brother’s Pizza and enjoyed talking to the Breaux Bridge residents as they came in for the best pizza in town! He volunteered on many occasions for playing the role of Santa Clause at nursing homes, daycares, various parades, and many Christmas festivities that needed a jolly Santa. He adored his family and always put them first, regardless of the circumstances.
John Allen was a very compassionate, loving and soft-hearted man who would help anyone in need. He loved to ride the roads visiting his friends and run errands for his wife. John Allen was known to many as having the quickest feet on the dance floor in St. Martin Parish. He proved to his family that he was a “TRUE SOLDIER” and would not let go without a fight during his extended battle. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Norma Thibodeaux Cormier; sons, Dwight Cormier and companion Tonya Savage, and Dwayne Cormier and wife Nicole; daughters, Melissa Patin and husband Ryan, and Lauren Thibodeaux and husband Dewey, all of Breaux Bridge; sister, Rose Mae Latiolais of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Jarrid (Nikki Theriot) and Justin Cormier, Louis (Naomi Stelly), Luke Patin (Steffi Howdeshell), Colby, Ethan and Miley Cormier, and Brendyn and Karsyn Thibodeaux; and great-grandchildren, Lawson Patin and Mason Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitley Felix “Pete” and Beulah Champagne Cormier; grandchildren, Trent Cormier and Elyse Cormier; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Cormier; and his father and mother-in-law, Clovis and Adeline Thibodeaux.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Michael Cain, Allison Bertrand, NP, the staff at Cancer Center of Acadiana, Lafayette General – 8th floor West Nursing staff, and Hope Hospice for their compassion and outstanding care given to John Allen.
