James Camille

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for James Camille, 93, who passed away at his residence.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
A rosary was prayed at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Deacon Wynard Boutte officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
James honorably served his country in WWII in the United States Army and also in the United States Air Force for 20 years, during which he served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed winning checker games, working in his yard, being outdoors, playing cards, and watching old Western Movies. James and his wife were members of the Parks American Legion Hall.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey David (Tammy, companion) Camille of Lafayette; two daughters, Tonya Josephine (Stan) Lancon of St. Martinville, and Mona Ann (Bobby) Bienski of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jace Camille, Barrett Lancon, Jenna Camille, Lindi Kostelnik, Camille Bourgeois, Lori Vaughn, Christy Veale and Ashley Bienski.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernice Camille; parents, Henry and Elvina Camille; brothers, Wilson, Johnny and Walter Camille; two sisters, Essie Barras and Elsie Latiolais; and two grandchildren, Catrice Lancon and Robert Bienski.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey David Camille, Jace Camille, Stan Lancon, Bobby Bienski, Barrett Lancon and Jimmy Camille.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Camille, Nicholas Bourgeois, Jeffrey Kostelnik, Eddie Veale, Tim Segur, James Vaughn and Ryan Vaughn.
We would like to thank all the members of NSI Hospice for all there help the past few months.
