Harry ‘T-Black’ John Guidry

St. Martinville – A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Harry “T-Black” Guidry, 88. who passed away on February 20, 2023, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Harry worked for 28 years as a school bus driver for the St. Martin Parish School Board and owned his own mechanic shop in St. Martinville.

He was a veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a Morse code reader, stationed in Alaska.

Fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and a good meal were some of Harry’s favorite things. No one could top his fishing stories. He loved his dog, Peedoo and his bird, Rosie.

Harry loved life and enjoyed any and everything he did. There was never a bad time. His wife of 55 years, Priscilla Guidry, was the apple of his eye, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

After his wife’s passing, Harry enjoyed his coffee every morning with lifelong friends, Huey Dugas, Roland Talley and nephew Dean Guidry. There was always a new story to be told.

He will be greatly missed, and he truly made the world a better place.

He is survived by his three sons, Keith Guidry of Lafayette, Kevin (Sheri) Guidry and Karl Guidry of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Jeanne-Marie Guidry and William (Sarah) Guidry of Lafayette, Caleb and Victoria Guidry of St. Martinville, Tyler Bertrand of Troy, Missouri, and Jene (Joseph) Jeanmarie of Metarie, La.; and great-grandchildren, Gabriella Bertrand and Sly Simoneaux of St. Martinville.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Priscilla Latiolais Guidry; his parents, Noe and Adelaide Guidry; five brothers, Alvin ‘Papit’, Jules ‘Black’, Ralph ‘Big Man’, James ‘Jim,’ and Russell, ‘Russ’ Guidry; and one sister, Volsie ‘Poup’ Robin.

The family would like to thank Juanita Jaquet of St. Martinville for helping in caring for Harry. She will forever be a part of our family.

We would also like to thank the staff at Lafayette General on Floor 8, especially Hannah and Penny.

Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
