Gracie Bodin Haydel

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Gracie Bodin Haydel, 100, who passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018, in New Iberia.
Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard was the Celebrant.
Visiting hours were observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, and continued on Friday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Haydel was born on September 9, 1918, to the late Denis and Laurence Hebert Bodin, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Bill Haydel and wife Denise of New Iberia, Lanny Haydel and wife Claire of New Iberia, and Richard Haydel and wife Jayne of Kingwood, Texas; daughters, Claire Broussard and husband Terry of St. Martinville, and Trudy Labat of LaPlace; brothers, Francis Bodin and wife Gwen of Ashton, and Denis Bodin Jr. and wife Aline of Ashton; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bolden Haydel; brothers, Ambrose Bodin, Roland Bodin, Theophile Bodin and Jules Bodin; sisters, Rita Darden, Irene Breaux, Hazel Dumesnil and Theresa Boudreaux; granddaughters, Rebecca Tassara and Marie Jean Labat; great-granddaughter, Adalee Haydel; and a son-in-law, Terry Labat.
