Genevieve ‘Genny’ Dubois Bourque

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019, at 1 p.m. in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Genevieve “Genny” Dubois Bourque, 93, who passed away Sunday morning, August 18, 2019 at her residence in Breaux Bridge, with her family at her side.
Visitation will be observed in Martin & Castille Funeral Home - DOWNTOWN location on Thursday, August 22, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to time of service. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Deacon Marcel Hebert from St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include her children, Kathy Chiasson, Michael Bourque and wife Connie, and Pam Dupuis and husband Keith; her grandchildren, Ryan Chiasson and wife Brook, Ty Chiasson and wife Mary, Summer Bourque, Amber Chaisson and Brittany Dupuis; her step-grandchildren, Rhonda, Tammy, Cody and Casey; her 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxie J. Bourque; her son-in-law, Larry Chiasson; her grandson, David Bourque; her great-grandson, Tucker Chiasson; her siblings, Ned Dubois, Celeste Stutes and Louise Borgman; and her parents, Clovis and Ursule Harrington Dubois.
Genevieve “Genny” Dubois Bourque was a longtime resident of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and native of Broussard, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School. She was a devoted mother of three and a loving wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She loved her Georgia family who she kept in touch with weekly over the past 60+ years. Before her husband passed away, they loved to go dancing with friends at the “La Poussiere” and eating breakfast with friends at Mr. Cook, Burger King, and later McDonald’s. She loved to cook for her family and out of town friends and relatives, especially shrimp stew for her niece, Mary. Mrs. Genny loved playing Bingo everyday at the Senior Center in Breaux Bridge and her occasional trips to the casino.
Pallbearers will be Michael Bourque, Keith Dupuis, Ryan Chiasson, Ty Chiasson, Richard Hardy and Jim Topalian.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brittany Dupuis, Tanyr Chiasson, Braeden Blanchard, Amber Chaisson, Bailee Blanchard and Jeannyfer Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Genny’s name to Amedisys Hospice Care, 4021 B Ambassador Caffery Parkway, Suite 101, Lafayette, LA 70503, or your charity of choice.
A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Bourque family to all of St. Martin Hospital staff, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care. Special thanks to all family and friends who took time to visit Mrs. Genny during her illness, those visits were so special to her and we are eternally grateful.
