Francis J. Hebert

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Francis J. Hebert, 92, who passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving children.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
A rosary was prayed by Peggy Robin at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Rev. Randy Courville officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Casie V. Dekerlegand and Brittni L. Vitte. Gift Bearers were Katelyn Vitte and Graci Vitte.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Francis graduated from Cecilia High School then joined the U.S. Air Force and became an aircraft mechanic. After serving his country, he married the love of his life and went on to graduate from Watchmaker School and co-owned a business for a short time. He also worked in sales and eventually retired from PHI as a helicopter turbine specialist.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and continued to serve his local community as an usher at St. Bernard Catholic Church. He enjoyed cutting grass, fishing, going dancing, watching baseball games, old westerns, and car shows.
Francis was a loving husband, father, father-in law, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was a dedicated family provider. He had a strong Christian faith, hardworking disposition which he instilled in his children, all with a gentle soul. He always enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, and savored every moment he could spend time with his children and grandchildren. The family is at peace knowing he is with his late wife and youngest son.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Dyke Hebert (Annette) and Kim Hebert; daughters, Julie H. Norris (Rocky), Lorie H. Vitte (Ricky), Connie H. Latiolais (Nathan) and Amie Hebert; grandchildren, Casie V. Dekerlegand (Ray), Ryan Vitte (Brittni), Katelyn Vitte, Kristal Norris, Matthew Norris, Christian Latiolais (Alé), Nicole Latiolais, Amber Hebert and Danielle Hebert; and great-grandchildren, Drey Dekerlegand, Evyn Dekerlegand, Graci Vitte and Wyatt Vitte.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie L. Guilbeau Hebert; son, Dana K Hebert; parents, Fleurtie Hebert and Agnes LeBlanc Hebert; brothers, Percy Hebert, James “Jim” P. Hebert and O. Patrick “Pat” Hebert; and sisters, Vina H. Taylor, Anne H. Marks and Nita H. Whitmore.
Pallbearers were Dyke Hebert, Kim Hebert, Ryan Vitte, Matthew Norris, Christian Latiolais, Drey Dekerlegand and Evyn Dekerlegand.
Honorary Pallbearers were Ricky Vitte, Nathan Latiolais, Rocky Norris, Ray Dekerlegand and Wyatt Vitte.
The Hebert family would like to express their gratitude to his nurses Allison, Amy, Theristen, Carol, and the staff at Hospice of Acadiana and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for their care and compassion that was given to their loved one.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
