Flossie was an independent strong-willed mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend.
Flossie was raised on a farm with her three brothers and one sister. Hard work and dedication to family was instilled in all of them.
After she graduated from high school, she attended Spencer Business College and graduated as a bookkeeper. She then began keeping books for her dad and brothers on the farm on weekends.
Flossie was a stay at home mother. After her children grew up and left home she began working again. She worked at People’s Bank and then continued her career at Regions Bank where she retired in her late 70’s.
After her retirement, she was still so active. She kept up her own yard, picked pecans during pecan season, and helped her children and grandchildren on whatever they needed. She followed her mother’s tradition of cooking every Sunday for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Just like her mother, there was always plenty for whoever dropped by.
She is survived by her son, Keith Berard of Cade; daughters, Kaby Dugas and husband Bo-Boy of St. Martinville, and Annette Valls of New Iberia; grandchildren, Monique Fremin and spouse Blaze of Lafayette, Genee Berard of New Iberia, Jael Dugas of Lafayette, Jade Dugas Meyers and spouse Joel of Baton Rouge, and Brittany Valls of New Iberia; 12 great-grandchildren; and two “adopted” great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Auguste Fuselier; mother, Ida Gauthier Fuselier; brothers, Charles Fuselier and spouse Irene Stockstill Fuselier, Roy Fuselier and spouse Rita Laperouse Fuselier, and Marcel Fuselier and spouse JoAnn Provost Fuselier; sister, Hazel Beihl and spouse Lester; grandchild, Jared Valls; and son-in-law, John “Brother” Valls Jr.
Special thanks to all our cousins, especially Chris Bourque, who called and checked on her and kept Flossie updated on all her nieces, nephews and their families.
Also, her family would like to give special thanks to one of Flossie’s deepest loves, her Godchild, Celeste Fuselier Andre (better known as “Ces”). “Ces” was her confidant and best friend. “Ces” fixed her hair since she was young and continued until her death. Flossie’s children learned early on that “Ces” was perfect and did no wrong.
Pallbearers were Bo-Boy Dugas, Blaze Fremin, Zac Fremin, Jacob Dugas, William Bujard II, Charles “Snake” Andre, Monique Fremin, Jael Dugas, Genee Berard, Jade Dugas Meyers and Brittany Valls.
Honorary pallbearers were Luke Jones, Brock Bujard, David Bourque, Hugh Andre, Mike Andre, Chris Andre, Joel Meyers and Dakota Dugas.
Rest in Peace Mom.
