Cyriaque Degeyter III

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Cyriaque Degeyter III, 82, who passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Dawn Gibson, Ashley Degeyter, and Nicole Gibson. Gift bearers will be his children.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Cyriaque was born in Parks, Louisiana to the late Cyriac and Corine Sonnier Degeyter. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Angelle, on May 19, 1957.
He was the owner and operator of Central Steel Erectors Inc. from 1969 – 2016, when his grandson, Brian Gibson, followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and kept the legacy going. He enjoyed working, hunting, fishing, gardening, ranching, telling jokes, and “rôdering” the roads visiting people. Cyriaque dearly loved spending time with his family and friends and eating boiled crawfish and crabs.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Angelle Degeyter; son, Dale Degeyter; daughter, Tammie Gibson and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Brian Gibson and spouse Dawn Stutes Gibson, River Gibson and Ashley Degeyter; step grandchild, Scott Gibson and spouse Nicole Weber Gibson; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle “GiGi” Gibson and Everleigh Gibson; step great-grandchildren, Rowan and Drake Gibson; sisters, Mary Lou Lasseigne, Rita Domingue, Cecile Frederick, Marella Heffner and Marie Claire Castille; and brothers, Paul and Alfred Degeyter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ann Dugas.
Pallbearers will be Dale Degeyter, Tommy Gibson, Brian Gibson, River Gibson, Scott Gibson, Francis Knott and Mike Angelle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Degeyter, Alfred Degeyter, Cecil Angelle and Audrey “Bay” Frederick.
