Calvin Malveaux
St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Calvin Malveaux, 89, who passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at his residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel, SVD, and Rev. Thomas James, SVD, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Our precious Lord came and claimed his own, Calvin Malveaux, who was ready and courageously answered His call on Saturday, January 29, 2022.
Calvin Malveaux, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend, was born on May 8, 1932, to the union of the late Ignace Malveaux and Lovenia Lee Malveaux. He married the love of his life, Alberta Louviere Malveaux, and shared a beautiful love story for 62 years until Alberta passed away in 2018.
He was a lifelong resident of St. Martinville who pursued many endeavors and had a broad range of accomplishments in life. He was a member of the local Auxiliary Police, a retired construction worker who often used his skills at home and a faithful servant to Notre Dame Catholic Church where he served as a proud member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council #54, the first Jr. Knights Commander of the Knights of Peter Claver Council #54, Church Trustee, Usher Society, Parish Council, Associate of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament (ASBS) and Cemetery Committee.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking pristine care of his lawn and was an avid New Orleans Saints, College Football, and Houston Astros fan.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories a son, Kirk W. Malveaux (Denise); granddaughters, Morgan Malveaux and Krystyn Malveaux; great-granddaughter, Riley Malveaux; along with sister-in-law, Melba Malveaux; brother-in-law, Norris Louviere Sr.;, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, friends and church family.
Above all else, faith and family were very important to him, and he made both a priority in his daily life. He was a source of strength and encouragement to many. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and though his absence is distressing, there is solace in knowing that Calvin and Alberta are reunited once again.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Alberta Louviere Malveaux; his parents, Ignace Malveaux and Marie Lovenia Lee Malveaux; sister, Delores Malveaux Cryer; and brothers, Donald Malveaux and Pervis Malveaux.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Anthony, Willie Lewis, Hilery Louviere Jr., Titus Pierre, Jeffrey Smith and Leander Williams Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Norris Louviere Sr., Athan Olivier Jr., Ernest Malveaux, George Mallery, Byron Cryer, Linkston Cryer II, Daniel Louviere Jr., Willie Johnson Jr., Allen JeanBatiste, and the Knights of Peter Claver Council #54 Membership.
