Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church .for AnnaMae C. Resweber, 77, who passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, at her residence with her family by her side.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 90 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday by her sister, Lucille C. Theriot.
Father Jason Mouton will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Readers will be Talyn Resweber and Gabbi Capritto. Honorary Gift Bearers will be Addison and Kassy Resweber and Lilly Broussard.
Anna Mae Champagne Resweber was a very loving, kindhearted, and generous person. She showed her generosity through her dedication to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the the Pro-Life Movement. She cherished spending quality time with her devoted husband Paul “Bully” Resweber of 57 years. They enjoyed their life together to the fullest.
She loved fun times at the casino and attending many country music concerts there. Country music was her favorite, she would listen to it for hours, she especially loved George Strait. She always looked forward to the “Saturday night country classics” What made her casino trips and country music concerts the most fun was taking along her children and their spouses. Always about making those precious memories, she made sure the trips were unforgettable.
She was a dedicated New Orleans Saints fan, an LSU Tigers fan and, always, a St. Martinville Tigers fan as she was their 1960 Homecoming Queen. She also loved going to the SMSH volleyball games. She loved going to the camp with her family. And trips to Grand Isle always created those special moments that are kept in the hearts of her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, was more important in her life than family. She loved surrounding herself with so many photos of her family through the years. Family events at her home were warm and welcoming. Love and laughter permeated every family get-together as there was always some jokesters keeping everyone laughing.
Over the years, she began numerous traditions for birthdays and holidays that will always be cherished. She will be remembered for the steadfast unconditional love which she gave her family. She will be immensely missed by them all.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul “Bully” M. Resweber; sons, Paul (Sherrie) Resweber Jr., Chene (Tina) Resweber and Terry (Monica) Resweber; daughters, Rachel J. (Kristie) Resweber-Simon and Lori R. (Chris) Capritto; grandchildren, Angie (Kenny “Blue”) Broussard, Heather (Ryan) Borges, Candice (Trayton) DeRouen, Braxton Resweber, Devin Capritto, Gabbi Capritto, Chris Gaudet, Tamra Gaudet, Talyn (Grant Nelson) Resweber, Addison Resweber and Kassy Resweber; great-grandchildren, Anniston Borges, Luke Borges, Emma DeRouen, Tanner DeRouen, Lilly Broussard, Jude Broussard, Amethyst Capritto, Ainsley Gaudet, Adalynn Lasseigne; brother, Larry J. (Ellen) Champagne Sr.; and sister, Lucille C. Theriot.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Angie Marie Guidry Champagne and Wilfred Champagne; great-grandchild, Killua Capritto; and brother-in-law, Ramsey Theriot.
Pallbearers will be Paul Resweber Jr., Chene Resweber, Terry Resweber, Braxton Resweber, Devin Capritto, Chris Gaudet and Chris Capritto.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry J. Champagne Sr., Kenny “Blue” Broussard, Ryan Borges and Trayton DeRouen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Bridgeway Hospice.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Bridgeway Hospice, especially, Holly, Charlotte, Jill and Chris; and Father Ed Degeyter for their love and compassion.
