Alberta was employed for 10 years with Bell South and 24 years with Iberia Medical Center. Some of her favorite childhood memories were swinging on the porch while the cotton was drying, cutting cane to chew and playing with her cousins. Her favorite house was on North Rd. in Erath where the porch wrapped all around.
The first cars she drove were a black Plymouth which belonged to Uncle Shorty, and the Henry J. that belonged to Uncle Bee. As a child in school, she enjoyed making castles with pine needles, jump roping and playing softball. One of her most memorable moments was Dr. LeBlanc picking her up from home to bring her to the hospital for treatment for her spleen.
Alberta taught her children the value of love, hard work and family. Her children are inspired by their mother – “To the world, she was a mother; but to us, she was our world.”
