School workers will see salary increases

Parish teachers and most other public school employees will see an increase in their August checks following school board action on a new salary schedule last week.
The board approved the new schedule that incorporates increases authorized during the recent session of the Louisiana legislature.
The state-funded hikes amount to $1,500 per year for all professional employees and $750 per year for paraprofessionals.
Central staff personnel, whose employment year runs from July 1 to the following June 30, will see an increase in their July checks.

Attorney General argues for dismissal of school board suit

Attorneys with Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry's office presented arguments to  the federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeal here last Thursday seeking dismissal of the ongoing desegregation litigation facing the St. Martin School Board.

Salary schedule, group health plan on agenda

Employee salary schedules and changes to the system’s group health plan are among the topics to be discussed when the St. Martin School Board meets this afternoon (Wednesday).

The board’s Finance Committee will meet at 4 p.m. with the full board set to convene at the conclusion of the committee meeting. The sessions will be held in the Administrative Office on Corporate Boulevard.

Also on the Finance Committee agenda is action on the lawn maintenance and School Resource Officer contracts along with discussions of the budget and maintenance vehicles.
