Parish graduations: Outdoors on June 5

Commencement exercises for graduates of St. Martin Parish’s three public high schools, originally scheduled for May 15, will be held outdoors at each school’s football stadium on Friday, June 5.
Despite the outdoor setting, graduates will each be limited to two guests each due to restrictions mandated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
School officials say 518 students, including special education and those receiving skills option certificates, GED and certificates of achievement, will participate in the graduation ceremonies. The total includes 209 at Breaux Bridge High, 159 at Cecilia High and 150 at St. Martinville Sr. High.
Breaux Bridge High officials were still tabulating final grades and honor rankings at press time Tuesday and those results will appear in the May 27 issue of the Teche News.
Cecilia
Five students at Cecilia High School have completed their studies with 4.5625 GPAs in the honors curriculum and are tied for valedictory honors.
They are Devin Cole Doré, son of Miles and Chrystal Doré; J’Brionne Michaele Helaire, daughter of Ja’Nathan and Chawana Helaire; Mary-Madeline Guidry, daughter of Amanda Guidry and the late Marcus Guidry; Sydney Faye Walpole, daughter of Sonny and Tamara Walpole; and Kamryn Elizabeth Theriot, daughter of Kevin Theriot and Kelly Melancon.
Salutatorians, with 4.53125 GPAs, are Cody John Lastrapes, son of Chad and Wanda Lastrapes; and Haylee Victoria Rippy, daughter of Calvin Rippy Jr. and Genevieve Cluse.
Awarding diplomas will be CHS principal Nicole Usie with the assistance of Al Blanchard Jr., superintendent of schools.
St. Martinville
Earning valedictory honors at St. Martinville Sr. High with 4.625 GPAs are Lizzie Lou Blanchard, daughter of Clyde and Roxanna Blanchard; Tristen Joseph John Charles, son of Jonathan and Shannon Charles; and Alec Michael Latiolais, son of Dana and Stephanie Latiolais.
Salutatorian, with a 4.46875 GPA, is Leryn Jade Quintana, daughter of Eric Richard and Monica Savoy Quintana.
Diplomas will be presented by Principal Kevin Dugas and Pamela Jordan, director of Federal Programs.
