BLAST FROM BARRY — SLEMCO crews worked to repair downed power lines along LA353/Cypress Island Hwy northwest of St. Martinville last Sunday as Hurricane/Tropical Storm Barry slogged its way through the Acadiana area. Winds gusting to 75 mph knocked over a large tree (at left) onto the power line. SLEMCO customers in the Cypress Island area were without power for almost 24 hours but damage from the storm was mostly limited to downed trees and minor flooding.
