BP settlement funds improvements

St. Martin Parish Government is spending almost $200,000 on improvements of pubic boat launch facilities at the Clayton Boudreaux Memorial Park in Catahoula and the Dick Davis Park near Butte La Rose.
The $185,000 project provides for the construction of floating docks and walkways at the two landings. Michael D. Breaux Inc. of Breaux Bridge is contractor on the improvements.
St. Martin Parish shared in the multi-billion dollar settlement imposed on British Petroleum after the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010, killing 11 workers and spilling millions of barrels of crude oil that spread along the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
